Back pain is often a result of tight muscles, which can stem from various issues.
We’ll explore how tight muscles can result in back pain and some solutions you can try to relieve tightness, stiffness, inflammation, and pain.
To understand how tight muscles result in back pain, let’s look into how the muscles in our back work.
Our lower back consists of two primary muscle groups:
When these muscles get tight, they can’t provide the support your spine needs, resulting in increased pressure that results in back pain.
In addition, tight muscles can cause imbalances in other muscle groups, causing a decreased range of motion and aggravating back pain even more. They can also lead to poor posture, which is a cause of back pain — it’s a vicious cycle.

This is the third time we’ve mentioned posture, so it must be important, right? Improving your posture is a fantastic way to reduce tight muscles and back pain.
When sitting:
When standing:
Yoga is an excellent way to increase your strength and flexibility. It’s also amazing for stress relief, and stress commonly causes tight, stiff muscles.
Some of the best yoga stretches include:
Physiotherapy massages and acupuncture can help loosen tight muscles and relieve tension in your back. Deep tissue massages can also help increase blood flow, removing stiffness and tightness.
Acupuncture helps restore your body’s balance and can help relieve pain and inflammation, reducing back pain and its causes.
A weak core results in sore muscles and back pain. If you work on strengthening your core, you can help loosen your muscles, improving your range of motion. The yoga stretches we mentioned are also fantastic for building core strength.
In addition, weak hip and leg muscles can make your back muscles stiff and painful. Exercises like squats or lunges are great for improving these muscles.
We mentioned how stress is a major cause of muscle tightness and back pain — something that CBD can help relieve. In addition to stress relief, CBD can help those with lower back pain experience significant improvements in their pain scores and their overall quality of life.
Unless there’s an underlying cause for your muscle tightness and back pain, working on your posture, strengthening your muscles, and taking a daily CBD supplement can significantly improve your pain levels and overall well-being.
Say goodbye to tight muscles and back pain. Say hello to CBD.

]]>If you experience aches and pains after getting up in the morning, there are various possible causes, and it could be due to multiple reasons.
Fortunately, by altering some of your lifestyle and sleeping habits, you can make changes to help prevent those morning aches.
Waking up in pain isn’t uncommon, and determining the cause isn’t always easy. Let’s explore eight factors that can affect your body and muscles when you wake up.
Stress and anxiety can result in inflammation in your body, which can cause stiffness and muscle aches, especially after lying still all night. The best way to reduce stress is to focus on your mental health.
Whether it’s exercising, consulting with a therapist, meditating, or anything else that helps you, your mental health also affects your physical health, and finding ways to ease your tension is essential for your overall well-being.
Plus, once you take care of what’s stressing you out, you may notice that your body no longer hurts when you get out of bed in the morning.
Are stress and anxiety making your body hurt in the morning? See if CBD can help.
Another common reason why your body hurts right after waking up is your mattress. Most mattresses last a maximum of ten years, after which you’ll notice signs of a poor mattress (like sagging and having less support).
When choosing a mattress, it’s crucial to consider what you want out of it — do you need something that soothes persistent back pain, or would you rather have one that offers pressure point relief?
Either way, you should take a few for a test run and find the mattress that gives your body the support it needs.
Everyone’s ideal sleeping position is different, and sleeping in the wrong one for your body can cause aches and pains in the morning. Most people do best sleeping on their side, especially those with back pain, sleep breathing disorders, or acid reflux.
It can be challenging to determine if your sleeping position is the cause of your morning stiffness. Luckily, your regular doctor can help identify if your body’s soreness is from how you sleep or if the cause lies elsewhere.
Unfortunately, being overweight is a common reason why your body aches upon waking. Carrying extra weight puts pressure on your neck and back, resulting in pain. It can also cause sleep breathing disorders, impacting your sleep quality.
While losing weight seems like an “easy” answer to waking up with body pain, those aches make maintaining a weight loss routine even more difficult.
Your doctor can help you make small daily changes that make a significant difference over time — it’s better to slowly lose weight in a healthy way than to try losing as much as possible as fast as you can.

People with sleep breathing disorders may stop breathing in their sleep, causing a lack of oxygen. This lack of oxygen can lead to your body hurting when you wake up — it’s essential to help your body repair itself overnight.
Headaches in the morning, sleepiness during the day, and body pain upon waking are all common signs of a sleep-breathing disorder.
Causes of these disorders include being overweight, aging, family history, substance abuse, nasal congestion, and underlying medical conditions. Sleep breathing disorders can cause serious health issues, including stroke and heart disease.
One common reason for morning stiffness that we don’t often think about is being sick; it causes inflammation in your body, leading to muscle aches. Even a mild cold can lead to aches and pains in the morning.
Luckily, this cause is temporary, and you can help it by getting more rest, eating healthy, and staying hydrated.
Speaking of staying hydrated, dehydration can cause serious problems in your body, taking a toll on your overall health.
Our bodies need water to function, and dehydration is a common reason people experience muscular aches and pains when they wake up — ensure you get enough water and electrolytes throughout your day.
If you don’t soak up enough sun, which is extremely common during winter months, you won’t get enough vitamin D for your body to make calcium.
And because calcium helps our bones and organs function, a deficiency can easily result in morning muscle aches and pains. Your doctor may recommend that you start taking a vitamin D supplement if you aren’t getting enough naturally.
We love sleep — unless we know we’re going to wake up in pain; then, it becomes something we dread. Plus, the more pain you have, the more difficult it is to get quality sleep, which leads to even more pain.
Remember when we discussed sleep breathing disorders and mentioned they can cause serious health issues in addition to causing you to wake up with aches and pains?
These disorders can be scary but, luckily, are easy to test for; your doctor can recommend an at-home sleep test or lab study if they believe a sleep breathing disorder might be causing you problems.
Sometimes, a new pillow is all you need. Finding a pillow with the right balance of stiffness and softness that aligns your spine and neck can prevent muscle tightness from occurring in your sleep.
If that doesn’t work, it might be time to look into buying a new mattress. Yes, a good mattress is expensive, but think about it like investing in your health.

CBD doesn’t alter your state of mind like THC, and there’s plenty of research showing its benefits for conditions like pain and anxiety. But what about ED? Is there a place for CBD in your sex life?
CBD and other cannabinoids work with our endocannabinoid system (ECS), which regulates many of our bodies’ functions.
Let’s explore four different ways that CBD might help combat erectile dysfunction.
Curious to see if CBD can help your ED? There’s only one way to find out.
Many studies suggest that CBD can benefit people with general anxiety disorders — disorders that can sometimes affect our sexual performance and libido. So, if CBD can help anxiety, it’s not silly to think it can help with ED, too.
CBD has this effect because it works on the serotonin receptors in our brains, affecting things like fear and anxiety. Many cases of ED come down to mental health, meaning CBD might seriously make a difference.
Related: Calming Anxiety With CBD
There are many reasons you might experience sexual performance anxiety: negative body image, pressure to orgasm, relationship problems, fear of disappointment, etc.
Because of CBD’s effect on general anxiety, it’s likely to have a positive effect if you experience performance anxiety, a common cause of erectile dysfunction.
Various preclinical evidence and studies show CBD’s positive effects on various types of anxiety, and if your ED stems from any of those, CBD might be the solution.
One study found that CBD can potentially lower blood pressure in those with increased heart rates. Great, but what does that have to do with ED?
When your blood pressure is lower (but not too low), it can improve your circulation. This improvement can help more blood flow to your genitals, making it easier to get up and stay up.
Not sleeping enough or not getting a good quality of sleep can cause a lot of issues with our bodies. Your erectile dysfunction could stem from not getting enough quality rest.
But how can CBD help?
Well, CBD can help with insomnia and help you sleep through the night. Plus, many causes of sleep disturbances come from anxiety and stress, something that CBD is well known for helping.
So, poor sleep habits, no matter where the issue comes from, can cause ED. In that case, CBD could be the perfect solution to your erectile dysfunction.

If you want to understand how CBD can help with ED, it’s important to know how CBD works in our bodies — remember when we mentioned the ECS?
Inside our bodies are tiny receptors that make up the endocannabinoid system. These receptors are like locks, and CBD is like the key that can activate them.
CBD doesn’t directly unlock them, but it sets off chemical reactions that stimulate the entire system. Through this activation, the body responds in various ways, resulting in the benefits of CBD.
There are ECS receptors throughout our body, including sexual reproductive organs.
And while one study found that cannabis use can lower sex drive, a more recent one found that it increases sex drive — really, it depends on the individual.
A BioMed Research International journal found that some practitioners have used the cannabis plant to improve sexual performance and ejaculatory function for many years.
Exactly how CBD helps ED isn’t entirely understood, but it’s possible that CBD relaxes blood vessels, promoting blood flow, which can relieve ED and help you perform for longer.
In addition, the topics discussed above (anxiety, sleep habits, and blood pressure) all have positive benefits from CBD and, left untreated, could cause or worsen erectile dysfunction.
Helping ED isn’t the only way CBD can bring its benefits to the bedroom.
Women struggling with painful sex due to dryness can also find relief with CBD by using infused lubricants. One journal shows CBD’s anti-inflammatory effects may be to thank.
Healthline spoke to some CBD and sex experts looking for confirmation of CBD’s sexual benefits — we’ll discuss a few points, but you can read the whole article here.
Because our sexual tissue and reproductive organs house many cannabinoid receptors, CBD can increase blood flow, in turn increasing sensitivity and promoting the body to create its own natural lubrication.
Some report that it also relaxes their muscles, making sex more enjoyable.
In addition, because CBD can relieve stress and anxiety, it may put some people in a romantic mood, reducing worries and distractions that can lead to a negative sexual experience.
CBD can also boost your mood, affecting oxytocin (the “cuddle hormone”) and increasing endorphins to enhance any sexual experience.
Wondering if CBD can enhance your experience in the bedroom? Find out here.
With CBD, you don’t have to deal with ED alone.
While there’s not much research specifically looking into CBD’s effect on ED, studies have shown that it helps with many underlying causes that can cause performance issues.
Is it worth a shot? We think so.
Some of the most common reasons for back pain are muscle strains and disc problems.
We’ll explore how to tell between these types of back pains and how CBD might be able to help you get some relief.
Want to skip to the good stuff? Find the CBD solution to your back pain here.
The easiest way to tell muscle vs. disc pain is its location. For example, if you have lower back pain, it’s typically assumed to be a disc problem — your spinal disc lies at the bottom of your back.
In addition, the pain will also feel different. Disc pain is typically tingly and debilitating, while muscle pain feels more like soreness.
Related: Natural Relief for Forearm Soreness
The primary back muscles help keep the shoulders, core, and lower back stable. These muscles are all connected, meaning muscle pain can feel like it goes throughout your entire back or body.
Soreness occurs when you stress the muscles (like during a workout). Your muscle fibers start breaking down, resulting in pain and soreness. However, this also means that when they repair themselves, your muscle fibers become healthier and stronger.
But that repairing process isn’t always the source of muscle pain. If you overstrain your muscles, you can tear those fibers, causing significant pain and injury — common in the lower back and shoulders.
Muscle soreness is typical after exercising, but if the pain persists, it’s likely a muscle strain or serious injury.
Underneath our spine, there’s an elastic-like muscle called the spinal disc. This flat, round disc helps us with our range of motion and stability; pain happens when this disc slips out of place.
The most common causes are heavy lifting and aging.
When a “disc slips,” it can even cause nerve damage, creating numbness, pain, tingling, and immobility. While our back can heal itself, much like the rest of our body, a slipped disc can lead to permanent damage, causing chronic pain.
Muscle strains hurt. However, before determining a treatment plan, you have to figure out if your pain is due to a strained muscle. There are four telltale signs of a back muscle strain:
When you tear or overstretch your muscles, you’ll likely notice:
Sudden stabbing pains, especially when bending or sitting, is likely a strained back muscle.
While strained muscles can result in localized pain, it’s common for it to radiate throughout your back. However, if your pain runs down into your leg(s), it could be a herniated disc or sciatica.
Another sign of strained muscles is muscle spasms — a type of cramp associated with involuntary movements and pain. Unfortunately, these spasms cause even more pain to your muscle strain.
Most muscle injuries, including sprains, lead to inflammation, making them feel tight and stiff. Icing the muscle immediately after injuring it can help reduce this inflammation.
Cold therapy helps treat swelling and inflammation; heat therapy reduces pain and stiffness.

You’ll notice different symptoms based on the severity and location of an injured disc. However, signs typically include back pain that increases with straining and numbness or tingling sensations radiating into your arms or legs if you damage nearby nerves.
Some people are more at risk for back disc problems. Common risk factors include:
You can strain a disc the same way you strain any other muscle. Repetitive strains (like heavy lifting) can cause significant pain, irritation, and inflammation.
When we’re young, our discs are filled with fluid and well-hydrated. However, that water content reduces as we age, turning our discs thinner and harder. This process can increase friction between bones, causing growths called bone spurs.
Degenerative disc disease doesn’t always cause issues, but it can lead to pain that’s aggravated by prolonged sitting or activity. This back pain is common in older people.
Also called a “slipped disc,” disc protrusion happens when a small area in the disc’s outer shell weakens — it doesn’t literally slip out of place. Our discs are held in place firmly by muscles and ligaments.
However, when this weakening happens, the fluid inside the disc can leak out, causing altered nerve function (tingling, numbness, etc.) and nerve pain that radiates into the lower limbs.
Disc protrusions most often happen in the lower back, causing lower back pain that radiates into the legs. However, we are at less risk of disc protrusion as we age; our discs dry out, making leaks less likely.
Sciatica pain is caused by our sciatic nerve, commonly radiating from the spine to the sole of the foot. It’s also associated with a pin-and-needles sensation.
Disc protrusion can lead to sciatica — a bulging disc can prevent spinal nerves from sliding up and down the spinal column as your body moves. And if the disc has a leak, as we discussed above, it can lead to localized inflammation and irritation.
Many researchers spend their time studying CBD’s health benefits, including its potential to relieve back pain. One of the biggest factors affecting chronic back pain is inflammation, and CBD can help reduce it.
CBD topicals, like our natural muscle cream, are even more effective for treating back pain.
Other than reducing pain and inflammation, CBD can also help combat anxiety associated with chronic conditions and aid in getting a better night’s rest — all of which can help with back pain.

Related: What Is CBD?]]>While many associate CBD with terms like calm and relaxing, it can also be effective when you need a focus boost.
So, let’s explore how CBD can enhance focus and productivity.
CBD’s benefits come from its interaction with receptors found in our endocannabinoid system (ECS), which regulates mood, metabolism, and cognitive functioning.
When talking about CBD for focus, it targets our CB1 and CB2 receptors, which focus on reducing anxiety and enhancing mental clarity. CBD makes some alterations in these receptors, resulting in better focus and productivity.
If you’re considering using CBD for focus, you probably want to know what to expect. So, how does CBD give you more focus?
Have you ever felt so anxious that you couldn’t concentrate on anything else? Rational, coherent thoughts go out the window.
Many people turn to CBD for anxiety relief, which, in turn, can help improve focus. There are promising results for CBD’s abilities to reduce anxiety brought on by various factors.
The decreased stress and lessened anxiety associated with CBD help quiet your mind, offering improved focus and mental clarity to help keep you from feeling overwhelmed.

In addition to relieving stress and anxiety symptoms, CBD can also help enhance your cognitive functions, improving focus and productivity. This mental boost comes from CBD’s ability to improve various mental processes.
Better cognitive functioning means you can go about your day without worrying about brain fog, burning out quickly, or being impacted by other negative effects associated with poor cognitive performance.
Do you ever wake up tired for seemingly no reason? Sleeping long enough isn’t enough if your sleep quality is poor — sleeping late, waking up multiple times, etc. But what does CBD and focus have to do with your sleep? Everything.
Sleeping is what recharges your body and mind; without it, you won’t function at your best. Other than CBD’s calming and relaxing effects, it can also promote wakefulness throughout the day, improving your focus and energy levels.

CBD can help boost your focus and productivity in various ways, and it’s not only about sharpening your mind. Let’s explore why you might experience poor focus and concentration and how CBD can combat those issues.
Chronic conditions that cause pain are things you can’t immediately control. These long-lasting health issues don’t have a quick fix.
Your healthcare provider often manages conditions like migraines, arthritis, nerve damage, back pain, etc. But, left unchecked, they can severely affect your ability to concentrate. It’s hard to focus when you’re in constant pain.
One of the most popular reasons people choose to use CBD is for relief from pain and discomfort. It’s often effective for helping with headaches, joint discomfort, and even for otherwise difficult to treat pain.
CBD works by sending anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving signals to the brain to help manage pain throughout the body.
Finally, some prescription medications can cause poor focus. So, if you’re able to get the same amount (or more) of relief with CBD, your doctor may lower the dose or take you off some of the meds affecting your concentration.
Not getting a good night’s sleep and experiencing a lot of stress go hand-in-hand. Poor sleep can lead to additional stress; it causes your body to produce more cortisol.
This hormone can lower your cognitive functions and slow your reaction times. Plus, sleep deprivation (regardless of the negative impacts stress can have on your life) can completely destroy your ability to focus.
If you don’t get enough sleep, you’ll experience significant cognitive impairment. And when you stress too much, it will impact your focus, concentration, and motivation.
So, quality sleep is crucial for your health — it’s when your body gets to recharge. Not enough sleep and you wake up unfocused without your normal level of motivation.
Luckily, CBD can work as a sleep aid for many people who need to relax and calm their busy minds at night. By improving your sleep quality, you can wake up feeling refreshed, improving your focus and productivity.
Low energy levels, feelings of anxiety, and issues with your mood can all lead to lower motivation, more stress, and less focus.
CBD has a close relationship with dopamine and serotonin, both of which affect our mood and energy levels.
Low serotonin (the “feel-good” chemical our body produces) causes fatigue and lethargy, while higher levels of serotonin result in feeling more energized. CBD can improve focus, mood, and energy levels by interacting with our serotonin receptors.
In addition, CBD can affect our brain’s dopamine levels. When those levels are low, we lose concentration and motivation. CBD can help balance our dopamine levels, leading to improved focus.
Looking for a natural mood and energy boost? Our tasty CBD tinctures might be just what you need.
Everyone deserves to feel better. And at Smooth Roots, we’re here to help you.

Managing dog aggression is not a one-size-fits-all approach; it requires a tailored combination of safety measures, behavior modifications, and sometimes, medical interventions. Employing physical barriers such as baby gates, crates, and muzzles can be instrumental in keeping both the dog and its surroundings safe, reducing the chances of sudden aggressive outbursts that could result in potential injuries. Training is another pivotal aspect; using positive reinforcement techniques not only instills better behavior but also fosters a bond of trust between the owner and the dog. Incorporating enrichment activities and structured play into a dog's routine can channel their energy and potentially decrease aggressive tendencies. However, for dogs that remain aggressive despite these interventions, it's essential to explore other avenues. This could mean diving into natural remedies like CBD or consulting with a veterinarian for prescribed medications tailored to the dog's needs.
CBD has steadily gained traction among pet owners searching for a holistic approach to address their canine companions' aggressive behaviors. Lauded for its calming properties, CBD doesn't possess the psychoactive effects often linked to THC. This has made it a preferred option for inducing relaxation and potentially easing anxiety in pets. Numerous brands, including Smooth Roots, emphasize ensuring the quality and precise dosing of their CBD offerings to guarantee optimal benefits.
For those contemplating the incorporation of CBD into their pet care routine, a prudent strategy involves initiating treatment with a minimal dose. This allows for close observation of any discernible behavioral changes in the dog, ensuring its safety and well-being. Incremental adjustments can then be made based on observed responses, optimizing the therapeutic potential of CBD.

There’s no denying the allure of a CBD-laden drink, especially with the increasing popularity of wellness beverages. But here’s the catch: while it might be a delightful way to consume CBD, this method may not be as potent as taking CBD sublingually, where it's directly absorbed into the bloodstream. The digestive process, while essential for nutrient absorption, can lower CBD’s bioavailability, which means a reduced amount of the beneficial compound reaches your bloodstream. This is why understanding consumption methods is crucial for those serious about maximizing CBD's effects. The answer to this challenge, and possibly the future of CBD consumption, is the revolutionary water-soluble CBD, which promises enhanced absorption and effectiveness.

While it’s essential to emphasize that CBD shouldn’t be viewed as a hangover “cure”, it might aid in improving certain symptoms associated with hangovers. For example, people have turned to CBD to potentially counteract migraine and nausea. A 2011 review showcased that in animal studies, CBD might play a role in reducing nausea and vomiting. Nonetheless, the research on CBD for migraines is still in its infancy.
Furthermore, studies have indicated that CBD may help with inflammation, which is a common consequence of excessive alcohol consumption. A 2010 study revealed a direct relationship between alcohol intake and increased levels of inflammatory marker CRP. CBD, on the molecular level, seems to reduce inflammation by interacting with the body's endocannabinoid receptors. However, it's essential to note that further research is required to solidify CBD’s role as a hangover remedy, especially concerning the ideal dosage.
While some people experience positive effects, CBD isn't devoid of side effects. For a few, it might induce symptoms like nausea and fatigue, which aren't favorable during a hangover. If nausea is a primary component of your hangover, other remedies might be more suitable.

If you're considering CBD as a potential ally in managing anxious feelings, keep reading to deepen your understanding of its effects and optimal usage.
Cannabidiol (CBD) is a cannabinoid, a distinct class of chemical compounds predominantly found in hemp and marijuana plants. Unlike tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which is responsible for the euphoric "high" often associated with cannabis, CBD does not induce these psychoactive effects. Instead, many individuals are drawn to CBD due to its proposed relaxation-inducing properties and potential therapeutic benefits in various health conditions. The process to obtain CBD oil is complex, largely using the CO2 extraction method, which ensures the purity and potency of the product. Once extracted, this oil becomes a versatile component, leading to the creation of a plethora of products ranging from oral tinctures and edibles to vape solutions and topical creams.
Anxiety, an inherent response to certain stressors, can escalate into severe disorders that adversely affect daily life, spanning from generalized anxiety disorders to specific phobias and even PTSD. In this landscape of mental health, CBD oil has rapidly gained traction, emerging as a potential therapeutic alternative for many battling these disorders. A mounting body of preliminary research points to CBD's promising role in alleviating anxiety symptoms. Various clinical trials have reported improved mental health outcomes in patients with different types of anxiety disorders, further solidifying CBD's position in the therapeutic world. Notably, young individuals, who often display resistance to traditional treatments, seem to particularly benefit from CBD's calming effects.

To comprehend the underpinnings of CBD’s efficacy, it's essential to understand its relationship with the body's endocannabinoid system (ECS). The ECS, a crucial system in our bodies, naturally synthesizes cannabinoids. These cannabinoids play pivotal roles in a multitude of physiological processes, notably in modulating emotions, and thus have a direct impact on feelings of stress and anxiety. It is believed that when we introduce CBD into our system, it augments the ECS by interacting seamlessly with our body's natural cannabinoid receptors. This bond potentially amplifies the calming and balancing effects, providing relief from stress and counteracting the heightened anxiety and paranoia sometimes induced by THC.
Panic attacks, often characterized as intense and overwhelming surges of fear, are among the more debilitating expressions of anxiety disorders. The sudden nature of these attacks can be profoundly unsettling. While the complete picture of CBD's role in managing panic attacks awaits more exhaustive clinical trials, initial studies provide a glimmer of hope. Early research suggests that CBD might have a therapeutic influence on various anxiety-related conditions, including panic disorders, by potentially modulating the brain regions responsible for fear and emotional response.
Answering the pressing query, "How soon can one feel CBD's effects?" requires understanding various determinants, like the chosen administration method and individual physiological factors. Generally:
The vast and varied CBD market offers a myriad of products, each with its unique composition and purpose. When it comes to managing anxiety, most individuals gravitate towards oral solutions like oils, edibles such as gummies, and vapes, given their systemic effect on the body and more direct impact on the central nervous system. Meanwhile, topicals, like creams and balms, are formulated chiefly for localized pain relief, often being applied directly to areas of discomfort or inflammation. As individual reactions to CBD can vary based on genetics, metabolism, and even lifestyle, it's essential to recognize that what works for one person might not work for another. Hence, the journey to finding the most effective form of CBD for anxiety often requires patience, trial, and observation.
Navigating the CBD dosage landscape can be somewhat daunting, especially when considering its use for anxiety. This uncertainty stems largely from the absence of FDA endorsement for treating anxiety specifically with CBD. Nonetheless, burgeoning research seems to suggest that lower doses, typically under 400 mg, are effective in mitigating anxiety for most individuals. Some studies have even ventured into higher territories, examining effects at 600 mg. Starting with a more modest dose, such as 10–25 mg, is generally advisable to gauge one's tolerance and to prevent potential side effects. It's also paramount to underscore the importance of seeking advice from a healthcare provider or a therapist who can offer a more tailored recommendation based on one's health history and specific needs.

A very important note is that CBD is also only one of 113 other known cannabinoids. The interaction of these cannabinoids with the body gives rise the world of medical marijuana.
CBD works on pets as it does on people because all mammals have the same endocannabinoid system found throughout their bodies that is found throughout ours. This is the same system in human bodies comprised of cannabinoid receptors that interact with the cannabinoids from CBD products. ]]>The reason CBD and CBD products are so useful to the human body is because of the largest system of governance in the bodies of all people and mammals known as The Endocannabinoid System (ECS). The ECS’ primary role is to maintain homeostasis, perfect balance, within the body at all times. It accomplishes this task through a network of chemical receptors that make up the ECS.
Along the ECS are two known receptors called CB1 and CB2 receptors. CB1 receptors are located in the brain and CB2 receptors are found throughout the rest of the body. Found in the brain and every organ, every vital regulatory system, every nerve ending and blood cell these receptors are found.
It is how each cannabinoid influences these receptors that makes CBD so beneficial for so many types of illnesses and ailments. The CB1 receptors allow for incredible neurological benefits like stress and anxiety to Alzheimer’s and neurodegenerative diseases. CB2 receptors come in for the powerful pain and inflammation, full body relief like general aches and muscle soreness to fibromyalgia and arthritis.
This is also the reason why there are many different ways to use CBD products. At Smooth Roots, we carry top quality, medicinal grade CBD topicals products for the skin, CBD tinctures and CBD capsules for deep and severe pain management, CBD vape cartridges and CBD vape juice for immediate relief as well as CBD gummies and CBD chocolates for a delicious healthy snack.

]]>Along with many other, often more serious mental illnesses such as autism schizophrenia. Here we will cover a few of the ways we are seeing the benefits of CBD for mental health.
The root cause of most people's anxiety is stress. Whether it be from work, personal relationships or family relationships, this causes the body to produce a hormone called cortisol. Cortisol is supposed to provide us with energy to fight of stressors, but when the body is perpetually in the "fight or flight" people develop anxiety disorders. When CBD is introduced into the bloodstream, it takes effect on the endocannabinoid system whose sole purpose is keeping the main bodily systems in homeostasis (perfect balance). CBD acts on this system to produce other hormones and enzymes which induce calm feelings throughout the body as wells as controlling the production of cortisol, therefore, taking the body out of this fight or flight mode.
Regular consumption of CBD also has powerful effects on cognitive function. Mental illnesses such as depression are due to a chemical imbalance in the brain, whereas other directly impact an individual's neurology. CBD interacts with the body's central nervous system through the endocannabinoid system. Evidence shows that CBD promotes healthy nerve function in cases of fibromyalgia as well as healthy neuron firing and interaction. People suffering from issues such as these may be left with great feelings of pain relief as well as enhanced cognitive function and clarity of mind.
Apnea Sleep is one of the single most important things our bodies need in order to function properly. People need sleep to properly heal and regenerate. Depression and anxiety are almost synonymous with insomnia and sleep apnea. People suffering from depression usually find themselves sleeping too much and people with anxiety disorders don't sleep enough. CBD helps with sleep apnea and the endocannabinoid system have been shown to regulate sleep patterns and promote longer periods of sleep. This gives the body the time it needs to properly regenerate itself while releasing stomach enzymes designed to regulate the digestive process which leads to healthy intestinal function.
People suffering from these various forms of mental illness experience daily triggers that often lead to mood swings and panic attacks. Regular use of CBD Oil will develop the ability to effectively recognize what triggers these experiences and teach them to manage them in a healthy manner. ]]>As popularity in natural alternatives to pharmaceutical medicines continues to rise, more and more people turn to CBD in an effort to find relief for a wide list of ailments. As the number of people purchasing and trying CBD for the first time increases, many are questioning the best ways to consume these unique products. While there are many different ways of taking CBD, the most effective way is by using a tincture.
CBD Tinctures work by delivering a serving of CBD oil sublingually, or under the tongue, and allowing the oil to be absorbed by your gums. In this method, CBD takes a more direct route into the bloodstream by getting absorbed through mucous glands. CBD Oil should be left under the tongue minimally for 20-30 seconds, with some recommending you leave it for 90 seconds before swallowing the remainder.
After consuming the CBD oil, effectiveness generally takes between 20-30 minutes but many users claim to begin feeling relief almost instantly. This may be caused by a blend of different oils which all interact individually and collectively to deliver the entourage of effects.
The entourage effect is the belief that compounds work collectively to enhance their individual effects, making the collective stronger than their parts individually. Although tinctures are not the longest lasting method of consumption, they still deliver upwards of 6+ hours relief, making them a very versatile method of intake.
Fatty oils infused with CBD deliver a relatively quick and extremely efficient method of getting CBD into your body. Edibles and capsules that are swallowed have to fight there way through the digestive system. The digestive system is filled with acids that break down and waste a large percent of the available CBD. This is known as the bioavailability of CBD.
When cannabinoids like CBD are introduced into a fatty oil like coconut oil, MCT oil or hemp seed oil, it significantly increases the bioavailability of the CBD. These tinctures, sublingual oils, are considered to be the most bioavailable form of consuming cannabis oil meaning your body uses almost all of the product’s CBD content.
While there is no actual documentation determining how much CBD dosage any one person may need to use for a specific reason, Smooth Roots has a simple and effective starting regimen. We recommend starting around 3-5 droplets, not full droppers, of a 30mL tincture containing 1000mg CBD. Depending on the severity of the use, try 7-10 droplets. T3-5 droplets is 4mg - 6.7mg which is a good starting dose unless you need to the higher starting point, 7-10 droplets which would be 9.3mg - 13.4mg.
These numbers are small because they are starting points. Many people find that using a CBD tincture in these amounts is sufficient while other people need a lot more. Unfortunately, cannabinoids like CBD are not a one size fits all and it is currently more of a trial and error process. It is here we would like to make the note that all products contain 0.3%.
1000mg CBD tincture (30mL - 1fl oz)
